When at least two strong earthquakes shook Yunnan Province in China this summer, the GPAALC leapt into action. The earthquakes and their aftershocks killed hundreds people and damaged or destroyed tens of thousands of homes in the region. The Greater Philadelphia Asian American Lions Club has donated $500 to assist the earthquake victims in rebuilding their lives and their communities.

On March 16, Lion Robert Scheyder proudly stepped up to be one of the first heads to be shaved at the St. Baldrick’s Day Event at Fado Irish Pub in Philadelphia. Right behind him in spirit (if not in line to get shaved) were the members of the Greater Philadelphia Asian American Lions Club, where several board members contributed to raise over $500 for the cause.
The generosity of the Lions helped Robert and his hair raise nearly $1,500 at the event, which exceeded its overall goal and raised $47,519 to support childhood cancer research.
On November 9, the Greater Philadelphia Asian American Lions Club was happy to support the Philadelphia Holy Redeemer Chinese Catholic Church and School at their 20th Annual Fundraising Dinner. In addition to having a good time, the club contributed to this important member of our community.
